OCTOBER 2017

Man and Woman

Meet Elsie, our first physically disabled rider. Our guides had the pleasure of taking her out this past week and had a BLAST! Elsie has had MS for 29 years and what’s called “drop foot” – her entire left leg does not pick-up so she must use arm crutches to walk. Our guides took Elsie on our introductory course which includes the first three zips and a 45 ft repel to the ground. She had no problem and LOVED it.

“Once we got me hooked up on the cables I felt the most secure I have in a long time knowing I was not going to fall… it was breathtaking – liberating! Because I was not relying on my feet or balance or anything. That’s the first time in many years that I have felt like I was not going to fall… that is the best feeling in the world.”
– Elsie T.

DID YOU KNOW?

Old-growth forests are a rarity in the Inner Bluegrass region of KY! Old Growth means a forest that has not undergone any major unnatural changes (such as logging) for more than 100 to 150 years, contains young, mature and standing dead trees (snags) and provides a home for a diversity of wildlife species. We are lucky to have several old hardwoods on our property including Chief, the white oak on our course who is over 300 years old!
